What is a Collaborative Festival?
Each year Whippoorwill Arts collaborates with exciting festival organizations with shared values to present live music featuring Whippoorwill Arts musicians and other regional and national roots musicians. Partner organizations — such as the Freshgrass Foundation, Northwest Folklife, Ashkenaz, and Richmond Renaissance — value working musicians, equity pay and booking, and building community.

Bay Area Roots Festival 2026 highlights the diverse folk traditions that arrive to the Bay Area from all over the world. From Afro-Cuban rhythms to Filipino folk harmonies, Bay Area Roots spotlights and celebrates the expansiveness of roots music.
