Whippoorwill Arts is working with the Musicians Union Local 6 (AFM), Independent Musicians Alliance and Jazz in the Neighborhood to campaign for the inclusion of musicians in City Prevailing Wage ordinances in four Bay Area cities in 2024.
Once musicians are added to these ordinances, we will work to provide research and studies to guide the setting of base pay rates, professional protections and equity hiring. We intend to pilot a model that can be replicated. To our knowledge this will be the first place in the country to add musician pay standards to city ordinances and thousands of working musicians stand to benefit.
