Abby Posner wins grand prize in USA Song Writing Competition

When Will Carpenter and I wrote the song Get Loud, we wanted to craft a protest anthem after Roe V Wade was overturned...we were not planning on winning awards, or making money off of it. We simply wanted to make art that inspired movement and energy to create change.   When we found out that we won the best song in the Rock Alternative Genre we were absolutely thrilled.  We certainly did not expect to win the overall grand prize...

Two days ago, I was curled up in bed and feeling the weight of the world.   It all feels like too much lately, doesn't it? The horrific conflict in the Middle East, personal heartbreaks, and there is just an overall anxiety and tension lurking.  I was spent, and feeling like hiding out.  When Will called me and asked me "are you sitting down?" --he didn't know that I was laying down in my PJs at noon.   He said that we won the entire USA Songwriting Competition!  I could not believe it. 

I suppose I am sharing this with you, because we all experience highs and lows.  Life can be really hard.  One moment you may feel completely defeated, and the next you may feel a rush of accomplishment.  That is simply living.  I hope this song inspires you to Get Loud about something you are passionate about.  Whether it is making music/art, or getting activated to pave the way for positive changes!
